What is the difference between running containers in privileged vs unprivileged mode?

Privileged Mode:
- Container has access to all host devices and capabilities
- Can perform operations normally restricted to root
- Essentially removes security boundaries between container and host
- Should be avoided in production
Unprivileged Mode (default):
- Container runs with limited capabilities
- Cannot access host devices without explicit permission
- Maintains security isolation from host system
Example:
# Privileged (dangerous)
docker run --privileged myapp
# Unprivileged with specific capability
docker run --cap-add=NET_ADMIN myapp
